The ECHO project is a consortium project led by IRC and supported by LHI and CHAD to strengthen resilience through multisectoral response in Borno, Zamfara and Sokoto State and ensure that conflict and crisis-affected populations in Sokoto states, Borno and Zamfara States have access to improved Health, Nutrition, and WASH services including IDPs, host communities, returnees, and vulnerable individuals.
The LHI-ECHO project is dedicated to supporting health services at Kurawa Primary Health Care (PHC) by providing comprehensive healthcare services to a population of over 20,000 individuals. These services include:
- General Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations
- Routine immunization programs
- Nutrition services
- Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Care services
As part of its life saving interventions, the project established a 10-bed capacity functional stabilization center. This facility provides treatments to children under 5 who were referred from decentralized OTPs and health facilities with medical complications for proper care.
The LHI-ECHO project offers capacity building to health workers and has also established several community structures with the goal of advancing and improving service delivery. These programs guarantee better community involvement, accessibility, and sustainability of the health services offered.
